This course is for those who have pistol permits, or have already taken the NRA Basic Pistol Course, or are former or current military and want to better learn to protect themselves from home invasions.
This advanced eight-hour course is essential to the safe and efficient use of handguns for self-protection and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense from a home invasion or other violent attack.
A review of federal and state laws and the aftermath of an intruder shooting will be taught by Attorney Thomas J Allingham or Attorney Daniel K. Readyoff of AllinghamSpillane, LLC. Issues discussed include the potential legal issues of using justified deadly force, the process of police investigations and the court system.
Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills and be tested on those skills on a firing range. They will also learn strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. 
NRA “Basic Personal Protection in The Home Course” participants must be law abiding, adults (at least 21 years old), and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm) to maximize what can be learned from this course. Proof of shooting experience can be one of the following: NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment.
Cost: $175. per person, registration in advance. Students are asked to bring their personal firearm, 100 rounds of ammunition, hearing and eye protection and their cleaning kit. Pistol rentals available. Class limited to 8 students.

HF LearnSafety Cancellation Policy: You may cancel or reschedule a class ten (10) or more days prior to the class date at no charge. If cancellation occurs nine (9) to five (5) days prior to the class date, you will incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the class price. You are responsible for paying 100% of the class price if you cancel four (4) days or less prior to the class date. Refunds will be issued if the seat is refilled, or if due to a serious documented medical emergency, an appropriate medical letter is provided directly by your physician or a hospital emergency room doctor to us. All refunds will incur a $10. processing fee.
